Late New Year Wishes

Happy New Year's!!  I know its a bit late , I do hope the new year finds everybody full of love this year.  I have hopes this will be a good year...new beginnings.

With this cold weather, we've been hibernating more so than usual.  Its just bitter out there.  I think its the dampness in the air coming off the bay that makes it so cold feeling. I just wish we had snow...it would so make the cold worthy of being around!!

Well, I have found this really nice place to spend my internet time...its over on Crochetville under the crochet-alongs.  You will find me most days in the Coffeehouse sharing a nice cup of coffee with the girls.  Conversation can be anything, but its also nice to see what everybody is working on.

Here's what I've got going on since the last post:

I got the scarf completed to match the wristwarmers

I started a scarf for Steph out of baby yarn she picked out...

Been working on stocking hats for little ones....

Started a pretty scarf for a friend....

And learned a new technique that I have fell right in love with.
FPDC & BPDC gives a really nice ribbing and warm texture.  (yep, learned it in the Coffeehouse)

Here's the makings of a poncho I'm working on for the Greek Games over on the 'ville - this is a practice piece to acquire sizing and to get an approx. amount of yarn needed...

The edges started curling, and the neck is too wide, so i have frogged it.  Will start over...that's what practice is for!!  But this will be very warm and snuggly!  For the games, I'm hoping to get new yarn, and my pick is LionBrand Jiffy in caffe (med. brown) with stripes of pink, blue & apple green (my favorite!!)  Games start on Feb 12th...so I have plenty of time.

Oh....and I finally found my yarn winder.  It went missing, but found it in a bag of stashed yarn.  I'm very lost without that winder.  It makes it easier and less frustrating to crochet with yarn that's already been de-knotted.

Goals for the week are:  figure out the necessities for the poncho, finish those hats & giftie scarf, and learn how to make fingerless gloves (wristwarmers with half fingers & thumb).  Most of the ones I've seen are knitted and I don't know how ot do that yet.  ...yet !!
